HALF BILLION GROSS DEBT & COUNTING – HOW WOULD THE GSD FUND DELIVERY OF THEIR MANIFESTO?

The GSLP Liberals are very pleased to note that, even now at this late stage, they are the ONLY party at this election that is explaining how it would both pay for their programme in their manifesto AND reduce the gross national debt by half by 2015.

The gross debt stands at £480m.  It has grown from a maximum possible level of £100m at the last election to almost half a billion pounds now.

The GSLP Liberals note the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Communities in respect of the appeal by the European Commission and Spain on the proposed corporate tax structure which the GSD Government put to the Commission in August 2002 (which included a “payroll tax” based on numbers of employees and which related to whether or not a company was in occupation of business premises – but which were never implemented) on grounds of “Material Selectivity”.
